Grandpa's Ghost Stories
Flying hands, bags of bones, and hungry witches (all delightfully illustrated) make this book a must-have if your kids love a good scare.
Some kids love a good ghost story. I was not one of those kids. When the lights would go out, my imagination would run wild and I would see shadows coming to life... not my favorite. Spooky stories are not for all children, but my own children LOVED hearing a good scary story; through them, I came to appreciate the art of a well-told scare. This beloved collection is especially fun with stories that unsettle and gross-out, but always with good humor and without elements that might scar children. Jim Flora, the writer, is best known as an iconic designer, so his illustrations are the real draw. His giant skeletons, ghosts, and witches who turn boys into spiders are funny and memorable. I'm so happy to see this book back in print.
