Ice

Pigs find a new way to cool down in this wordless picture book.

Ice is described on the dust jacket as “a real page-turner and a great read aloud” – interesting descriptions for an entirely wordless book, and ones with which I wholeheartedly disagree. I found myself never wanting to turn the page; the detail and humor in each illustration are more than enough to linger on. As much as we love titles that encourage reading aloud (and while Mom or Dad could certainly make up an oral narrative to accompany the illustrations), Ice is even more fun as a solo exploration venture for children.
