The long history of one toy rabbit.

When looking for books for kids, many parents, myself included, look to the literature of their own childhood (sometimes to a fault). To only focus on older books ignores the work of great working writers who are producing work on par with anything in the pantheon of children’s literature. Kate DiCamillo is one of these new voices. You might know of her work through The Tale of Despereaux, which was turned into an animated film, or The Tiger Rising which won the Newbery Medal in 2001 or Because of Winn-Dixie which is regularly included in lists of best chapter books for children. In each of these stories, DiCamillo narrates through the eyes of an underdog who brushes up against a bit of life changing magic.
