Meet several Black heroes throughout history!

Black History Month is a time to celebrate Black Americans and reflect on the troubled history of race in America. These Americans should always be celebrated, but February is a time for intentional celebration and acknowledgment. To help, we wanted to point out one of our favorite children’s books, Young, Gifted, and Black which shares the stories of 52 notable Black leaders and heroes throughout history.

In this collected biography, readers can explore the lives and legacies of many important figures in Black history throughout the world. Some of these heroes might be familiar such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or President Barack Obama, but this beautifully illustrated book introduces us to a variety of notable Black adventurers, activists, athletes, and artists who helped inspire change all across the globe.

While Black History Month is a time to reflect on our history, it is also a time to reflect on where we are as a country and how far we still have left to go. At Tinybop, we believe in tackling these hard issues by teaching kindness, empathy, and understanding. A great way to help facilitate conversations about race with our children is through beautiful books such as Young, Gifted, and Black, which share the hardships, achievements, and triumphs of various individuals in Black culture. If you have any other resources or tips that have worked well for you and your family, please send them over to us at support@tinybop.com. We’d love to hear from you!
