Peter and the Wolf

A stop-motion short film retelling the classic story of Peter and the Wolf.

Peter and the Wolf has been adapted countless times since its original composition by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. This version, directed by Suzie Templeton, however, strikingly differs in how it handles the visuals of the story: a stop-motion short made completely from 3D models. The artistic craft and complexity are stunning, and harmoniously narrate the wordless film alongside Prokofiev’s composition. The overall tone is a bit dark, but it emphasizes the connection between fearless Peter and the menacing wolf he faces.

In my own work, I sometimes make stop-motion projects, and this short film is an artistic inspiration. The scenery and characters are beautifully rendered and blend with the music to tell a refreshing version of the timeless fable.
